Homework Note Week 24

Dear Parents,
A reminder on Hurling. If your child has a hurley (suitable sized one - 18”-24”) and helmet they can bring them on Wednesday and Thursday this week. If you don’t have the equipment I have plenty here in school. Literacy Lift off is finishing this week. We completed approx 6 weeks (4 times per week) of this activity. We will test the children’s reading age again and I will share those results with you. This week is Engineers Week and we hope to carry out some activities.
Word Wallet activities.
We have covered all 42 sounds now. Please revise these if there are any sounds that your child does not know. We will now learn the alternative ways to spell some of the sounds.
1. We are working on words that contain the alternative “y” sound. Try to make these words
2. very, ugly, army (Mon) body, copy, noisy (Tues) empty, tricky, rocky (Weds) dusty, story, curry (Thurs)
3. See if they can make other words with a “y” but with the /ee/ sound.
4. Click into http://www.ictgames.com/phonemePatterns/index.html or on the ICT GAMES link on the right side of our class webpage to see list of words containing of all these sounds we have been learning.
5. We are learning the red tricky words this week with Seniors. 1st class are revising them.

Super Troopers:We are on Pink Week 4. There are some fun activities to try at home.
Word Wallets/Tools for school: Please ensure that your child has all the sounds/names/tools.
