Homework Week 12

Post date: 22-Nov-2015 18:04:14

Dear Parents,

Our parent teacher meetings are taking place this week and there are many slots available that hopefully might suit you. As of Sunday 22nd November the free slots are shown on the right. Please see the link on our class page to book a slot for the 24th, 25th or 26th of November.

The Defence forces visited our school last Wednesday and presented us with our National Flag. This will be raised on March 15th 2016. Our Aistear theme will change over the next 3 weeks. (We will get back to the Hairdresser/Barber later)

This week we will discuss toys and the Toy Show. Please send in one toy (car, teddy or some Lego etc. if possible. Also on Thursday for Art the children will need a white sock for Art. An old sock will do.

I want to keep doing homework a positive experience as much as possible. They will be getting much more in the years to come. Please don’t do all the homework for the week in one sitting. The intention is a little each night. If you feel they have enough done for one sitting just leave a note for me on this sheet.

Word Wallet activities. (These are progressing)

Jolly Phonics – for each sound

1. Match the green sound, make the sound and show you the action.

2. Ask the children to make a word or words using the sounds (green cards) they already have. This week we are working on words that contain the “qu” and “ou” sounds. Try to make these words

quiz, quick and quack (Monday) queen and quilt (Tuesday)

out, loud and found (Wednesday), our, sour and couch (Thursday)

Tricky Word activities. – Children will continue revising the Tricky Words.

1. Match the coloured card to its place on the white card. (Place the “they” on top of the white “they”)

2. Say the word.

3. Ask the children for a sentence with that word in it. (I saw that they were lost.)

Thanks

Mr. Gleeson and Mr. Keating.
