Homework Note Week 30

Dear Parents,
We completed the MIST (Middle Infant Screening Test) for reading and writing with Senior Infants in the class recently. The children did very well. One of the items that are checked for is reversals of letters. This is a natural thing that can be evident in many emerging writers. If your child has reversed a letter in the test then please encourage them to check that letter each time they write it. Please keep an eye on the letter _________.
Hurling will continue now on Tuesdays and Fridays (not Thursday as before). Team Teaching continues on Monday and Wednesday afternoons.
Word Wallet activities.
1. This week we are learning words that have /oi/ sound - spelt as “oy”.
2. boy, toy, joy (Mon)
3. enjoy, loyal, royal (Tues)
4. ploy, coy, annoy (Weds)
5. destroy, employ, decoy (Thurs)
6. Click into http://www.ictgames.com/phonemePatterns/index.html or on the ICT GAMES link on the right side of our class webpage to see list of words containing of all these sounds we have been learning.
7. See if they can make other words with a “oy” but with the /oi/ sound.
8. We are starting to learn/revise the green tricky words.

Word Wallets/Tools for school: Please ensure that your child has all the sounds/names/tools.
We are talking about the Vikings. 1st Class will continue spellings and tables (-10) There are always activities to be completed on studyladder. We are starting the Tricky Word List 6. These are the green words in the word wallet.
