Food Dudes

2nd/3rd class are busy every morning passing around our daily fruit and veg. What great helpers they are! Our children are very enthusiastic about this. One Mum said she is delighted that her daughter is now eating Fahitas! Ms Greene is busy gathering healthy recipes, so please send in any successful recipes you have tried out at home with your children.

5th-6th Class organise Monster Table Quiz

Well done to the quiz team and their classmates for organising a table quiz for the school. We had 22 tables composed of a mix of pupils from the top 4 classes in the school. They were soon busy teasing out the answers to hard questions posed by our quizmasters. Congratulations to the winners and runners up, who each won tickets to the raffle for Easter eggs.

Cyberbullying Workshop

An excellent workshop, took place at Scoil Mhuire on 27th March, looking at

· key ideas about Internet Safety,

· provide ideas for how to prevent cyberbullying,

· discuss how to respond to cyberbullying and

· consider how school and home can work together on this important issue.

The workshop was facilitated by Alanna O’Beirne (Health Promotion Officer for Primary Schools). Parents and teachers of Scoil Mhuire, Ballysteen NS, Kildimo and Kilcornan were invited to attend.

A workshop for senior class pupils is being planned for the third term.

Lenten Campaign 2014

The Lenten campaign has been stronger than ever this year. Well done to Ms O'Sullivan's class for organising this annual Fund raiser. And well done to all the families who support this by bringing in donations and cakes. I know that everyone is finding the pinch in our economic times, but every little helps, and your generosity is greatly appreciated by those who receive it. This year we are giving sponsorship to Fr McCormack's Swaziland project and also to Fr Bellisario's mission in Bangladesh. He will be heading out there in the Autumn. The presentation and raffle will take place this Friday at 11:30. The cake sale this week will take place on Thursday and all campaign activities will finish on Thursday, in order to complete in time for the presentation.

2012-2013

Visits

Fr Martin McCormack visited the school to show us all the activities he is involved with in Swaziland. He was most grateful for our Lenten campaign which raised almost €3000. He also brought us a cobra snakeskin!!

Poet Gabriel Fitzmaurice will visit the school on Wednesday, May 29th.

Drama

George and the Dragon will be performed in the school for the children on June 6th

WOW (Walk on Wednesday) on June 12th.

Book Launch

Parents of Senior Infants and First Class are invited to attend our Book Launch on Friday June 20th at 11.30 am in the school hall.

On June 14th 3rd - 6th are heading to Fota Island, 1st-2nd are heading to Crag Cave and Juniors-1st are heading to Stonehall Visitor Farm
