Homework Note Week 19

Dear Parents,
Thank you for sending in the items for our travel table and for ensuring the children have their “My Tools for school”. I am looking for parents, grandparents etc to come in to class and talk to us about another travel/ other countries. Just write a note to me on this page if you could do that. You can bring photos, items etc with you. You will be asked questions! Dictation is continuing. Please have a look at their dictation copy in their bag to see how they are doing.
Word Wallet activities.
Jolly Phonics – for each sound
1. Match the green sound, make the sound and show you the action.
2. Ask the children to make a word or words using the sounds (green cards) they already have.
3. This week we are working on words that contain the “ue” sound. Try to make these words
4. due, fuel, cue (Mon)
5. rescue, clue, glue (Tues)
6. blue, true, statue (Weds)
7. value, cruel, tissue (Thurs)
8. See if they can make other words using these sounds.
9. Make sure to use the correct “ue” sound and not the “u” and “e”
Tricky Word activities. – We are revising the Tricky Words 1, 2 and 3 (Orange and yellow words).
1. Match the coloured card to its place on the white card. (Place the “they” on top of the white “they”)
2. Say the word.
3. Ask the children for a sentence with that word in it. (I saw that they were lost.)
Our Aistear theme is Travel. I will be doing a word check on the Tricky Words list 1, 2 and 3. They are on the back of this page. We are visiting the St. Brigid’s Well on Feb 1st, There is bingo in the school on Feb 7th @7.30pm and we are planning on going to see The Wiz in the Lime Tree Theatre on Fri March 3rd.
