The boys and girls in Ms. Keary's 1st and 2nd class were very lucky to have been taken on a historic walk of Pallaskenry by Mrs. Mary O' Callaghan of the Kenry Historical Society, last Wednesday 25th of November. They got to learn about the history of the village, the people who once lived here and the various places of interest like the old school, the old library and the old knitting factory. It was really interesting and everybody enjoyed the walk. They were delighted that people from the local community also joined in. On return to the school they were amazed to see the plans of the old school framed in the corridor. The old school is now a Community Centre and also home to Liz's Pre school ! Mrs. O' Callaghan, our former principal, explained that she had been a teacher in the old school and she enthralled the students with her stories of school in the olden days. Míle buíochas to Mrs. O' Callaghan for giving so generously of her time and her knowledge, to Ms. Keary for organising the walk for her class, to Mrs. Murphy, Ms. O' Connor and MaryO' Brien for helping out and supervising the children and to John, our transition Year Student for making a video and taking photographs.
