Homework Note Week 21

Dear Parents,
Thank you to all the visitors to the class last week. The children will be doing a small project on a country next week. Please help them to select one. I am still looking for parents to come in to the class to talk about other countries. We have learned about Bermuda, Australia, France and New Zealand. You can bring photos, PowerPoint’s, items etc with you. You will be asked questions! Dictation is continuing. Again please have a look at their dictation copy in their bag to see how they are doing.
You will find a word check in their folder later in the week. Please sign and return it to me.
Word Wallet activities. – Last week your child got ____ er words.
Jolly Phonics – for each sound
1. Match the green sound, make the sound and show you the action.
2. Ask the children to make a word or words using the sounds (green cards) they already have.
3. This week we are working on words that contain the “ar” sound. Try to make these words
4. arm, car, far (Mon)
5. art, jar, hard (Tues)
6. farm, barn, card (Weds)
7. park, sharp, barber (Thurs)
8. See if they can make other words using these sounds.
9. Make sure to use the correct “ar” sound and not the “a” and “r”
Tricky Word activities. – We are now on the Tricky Words 4 list – Red words).
1. Match the coloured card to its place on the white card. (Place the “they” on top of the white “they”)
2. Say the word.
3. Ask the children for a sentence with that word in it. (I saw that they were lost.)
Bingo in the school on this Thursday evening Feb 9th. We also had a visit from Richie the farmer last week. I will return the farm items this week. Also I need to ensure I collect the Art and Craft money for this school year. It is €25. My records show you have paid €___.
