Homework Note Week 20

Post date: 01-Feb-2016 09:15:49

Dear Parents,

Thank you for your continued support with the Healthy Lunches. I will give 5 dojo points each week to a child who is making a great effort with that. If any lunch is left over I will send it home so you can see. From this week I will also give 5 dojo points to the reader of the week and writer of the week. These incentives are for extra effort with their class and homework.

We are planning activities around Easter 1916 in the school. Our class will be discovering what a classroom was like it in 1916. We intend to explain to visitors what a class was like in 1916. If you have any ideas, props or clothes that would help us please let me know.

Word Wallet activities.

Jolly Phonics – We are learning the alternative ways to spell some of the sounds /y/ (sunny), /ea/, /igh/, /ow/ (cow) /ew/, /ir/, /ur/, /au/, /aw/, /al/, /oy/, ) /ow/ (snow)

This week we are working on the “ou” sound but spelt as /ow/.

Please get the children to make up the following words. 3 per night

cow, now, wow, clown, prowl, howl, town, down, frown, crowd, fowl and crown

Tricky Word activities. – Children will continue learning/revising the Tricky Words. We are on the red List 4 now. See the Tricky words prezi on our class website. We use this in class to practice.

1. Match the coloured card to its place on the white card. (Place the “they” on top of the white “they”)

2. Say the word.

3. Ask the children for a sentence with at least 2 tricky word in it. (Who saw that they were lost.)

Our Aistear theme is the building site. We are learning about time. Please ask your child questions about what time they get up, go to school and go to bed etc. Refer to the clock at home. Ask them how long did that take? To walk to school, eat your dinner etc. There are 2 more online Studyladder activities to complete if possible.

Thanks

Mr. Gleeson.
