Homework Note Week 14

Post date: 08-Dec-2015 12:31:30

Dear Parents,

Thank you for sending in the dinky cars last week. This week is Mr. Keating’s last week on teaching practice. We are going to Mass on Tuesday at 9.30am so all children are asked to be in school for 9.15am on that morning. A reminder of the tools we need to do our school work – 2 topped pencils, a rubber, a glue stick, a whiteboard marker and earphones.

Word Wallet activities. (These are progressing)

Jolly Phonics – for each sound

1. Match the green sound, make the sound and show you the action.

2. Ask the children to make a word or words using the sounds (green cards) they already have. This week we are working on words that contain the “er” and “ar” sounds. Try to make these words

her, kerb, silver (Monday) under, winter, never (Tuesday)

arm, car, far (Wednesday), bark, shark, kangaroo (Thursday)

Tricky Word activities. – Children will continue revising the Tricky Words.

1. Match the coloured card to its place on the white card. (Place the “they” on top of the white “they”)

2. Say the word.

3. Ask the children for a sentence with that word in it. (I saw that they were lost.)

This week’s theme is Christmas. We will be learning about 2D shapes, the manger and An Nollaig in Irish.

Thanks

Mr. Gleeson and Mr. Keating.
